Why politicians Lie

Politicians want to be in power. To accomplish this they have to be popular to get elected, and put across a message that people want to hear.

However according to The Spectator magazine this is causing people to not vote in droves, the general public see politicians as inept and liars. Thus lying in this case destroys the politicians cause. Links to this site can be found at http://

So what can politicians do to clean up their image? The simple answer to that would be to be honest , however that also may not go down well with people having to face paying more tax for services.
